Conservation Grants
The BCSS Conservation Committee invites applications for grants for conservation projects. Applications should be submitted electronically with an outline of the proposed project and details of the costs, to the Conservation Committee Secretary. A grant will normally be up to a maximum of £2,000 although larger amounts can be granted in exceptional circumstances.
Research Grants
The BCSS Research Committee invites applications for grants for rigorous evidence-based research projects that will provide significant new information on cacti and/or other succulent plants. Grants for research concerning conservation topics should be directed to the BCSS Conservation Committee. Research proposals with immediate and direct application to the interests of the BCSS membership are a priority. A grant will normally be up to a maximum of £2,000 although larger amounts can be granted in exceptional circumstances.
Applications should be submitted electronically to the Research Committee Chairman.
Proposals should indicate the proposer’s experience and publications, the name of a referee, the current state of knowledge on the topic, the proposal and methods (maximum two sides A4), time scale, the amount requested and the use of the requested money.
Please indicate if funding is being or has been sought from other awarding bodies and whether or not such applications have been successful or not.
At the end of the project successful applicants will be required to provide a short confidential report to the Research Committee together with an article to be published in the BCSS Journal CactusWorld or Bradleya.

The Bill Maddams BCSS Travel Award
The Bill Maddams BCSS Travel Award is a competitive award of up to £1000 towards travel expenses for a student who has to find funds for a project connected with cacti or other succulent plants, which has to be undertaken as part of studies connected with the achievement of a botanical qualification.
