Wiebe Bosma

Wiebe Bosma has been growing cacti and other succulents since he was a teenager − almost 50 years ago. He has a broad interest in these plants and, for many years now, a special interest in Stapeliads. He has a mixed collection growing in a 3m x 8m greenhouse. Some 20 years ago Wiebe started making trips to the habitats of these plants in South America, Asia and Africa. On these trips, he combines his interests in plants, nature, people and culture and his passion for photography.

Tanzania may be well known to nature lovers because it is a popular safari destination. However, most people are unaware of the wealth of succulents that can be found there. Wiebe has made two habitat trips to Tanzania and its very friendly inhabitants! This presentation will be on plants (and some wildlife) that he saw on his first trip. Genera represented in this talk are Aloe, Caralluma, Echidnopsis, Euphorbia and Orbea – to mention just a few!
