Jakub Jilemicky graduated in International Territorial studies, majoring in tourism. His Diploma work was about specifics of South Africa tourism which led to his interest in the study of Haworthia, Gasteria, Astroloba and Conophytum. His 25 years of experience include more than two years in total in field expeditions in South Africa. He has travelled to other Southern African countries − Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe − mostly as a tourist guide. He has a well-known website www.haworthia-gasteria.com which is dedicated to the genera Haworthia, Astroloba and Gasteria. His field photographs have been used in several publications, and he has spoken widely on the subject.
In this talk, Jakub will be covering the genus Haworthia and other interesting succulent groups. He will bring us on a journey from Baviaanskloof in the west up to Umtata in the east, showing the richness of succulents growing there. And because Jakub likes Haworthias, you will see mostly them!!! But no worries, a lot of photos of other plants from different genera are included.
